SANTIAGO, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Chile's economy grew 2.5 percent in 2025, surpassing business sector forecasts, the Central Bank of Chile reported Wednesday.
According to the report, the expansion was driven by domestic demand, with increases in investment and consumption. Commerce, personal services, manufacturing and business services were the main contributors to the growth, while mining, electricity, gas, water and waste management saw declines.
The 2025 figure aligns with the previous administration's forecast, said the report.
Juan Pablo Rodriguez, undersecretary of finance in the newly inaugurated government of Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast, said the growth "confirms an average growth rate of around 2.1 percent over the last 10 years." ■
