ABIDJAN, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Cote d'Ivoire aims to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 33.07 percent by 2035, Mayeul Alex Lagaud, technical advisor at the Ministry of Environment, said here on Wednesday.
"Technical partners and Ivorian authorities share a common ambition: to make the low-carbon transition a structuring driver of national development," Lagaud said at a steering committee meeting of the Low-Carbon Transition Project.
Lagaud also said that the country has embarked on ambitious actions in favor of renewable energy, reforestation and sustainable agriculture.
"It is up to us to guide, advise, and take the necessary decisions to ensure the achievement of the set objectives, in line with national development priorities as well as the requirements of our partners," the technical advisor said.
The Ivorian government has repeatedly highlighted progress in climate governance, the strengthening of the national transparency system and the completion of sectoral studies. ■
