HORSENS, Denmark, May 2 (Xinhua) -- China will face South Korea in the Uber Cup final after both teams secured semifinal victories here on Saturday.

World No. 2 Wang Zhiyi overcame a sluggish start to defeat Akane Yamaguchi 21-23, 21-11, 21-16 in 73 minutes.

Reflecting on her slow start, Wang said: "Akane is a very experienced player, and I wasn't 100 percent ready at the beginning. I didn't feel much pressure before the match, but I had confidence in winning the singles."

"I'm glad that I eventually found my own rhythm and adapted to the fast pace of the match," added the 26-year-old.

Two-time world champion and world No. 3 Yamaguchi expressed disappointment of letting her early advantage slip.

"In the opener and the early stages of the deciding game, my effective shots were gradually figured out by my opponent. I lacked patience at times, going for tougher placements or quick winners, which resulted in errors," said the 27-year-old Japanese.

In the doubles, Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning upset Japan's Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto 21-18, 21-14 in 53 minutes.

"Maybe we were braver and a bit luckier than our opponents in the decisive moments. We kept reminding each other throughout the match, and we're happy to maintain the winning momentum for the team," Liu said.

Olympic champion Chen Yufei then sealed the victory for China, beating 19-year-old Tomoka Miyazaki 21-11, 22-20 to secure a 3-0 win. However, the 28-year-old was not happy with her overall performance.

"I made some unforced errors today, and it reminded me that I need to be more precise on court, no matter who my opponent is," Chen said.

For Miyazaki, the 2022 world junior champion, she stepped onto the court knowing she could not afford to lose with Japan trailing 0-2.

"In the first game, I went through many difficult situations and felt quite nervous at times, which made it hard to fully control my play. But I kept fighting and gave my best until the end," Miyazaki said.

In the other semifinal, South Korea defeated Indonesia 3-1 to set up a final clash with China on Sunday.
