ALMATY, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna on Monday announced the completion of modernization works on the Altynkol-Zhetygen railway section, a key part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
As part of the modernization project, 293 km of railway infrastructure were modernized, 12 stations were put into operation, including five new and seven reconstructed, new receiving and dispatch tracks were built, and a microprocessor-based centralized traffic control system was introduced, Samruk-Kazyna said in a statement.
Overall, about 3,000 km of railways are being modernized across the country, of which 900 km have already been upgraded to date, it added.
The TITR starts from eastern China's port of Lianyungang, running through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia to Türkiye and European countries. ■
